Customer Case | High-Reliability High-Power Power Supply System for Aerospace Flight Test Support
In aerospace vehicle development, flight testing is crucial as it assesses real-world performance, identifies design and manufacturing issues, and guides improvements, directly impacting product quality. This case study shares NGI's application of its high-reliability high-power power supply system in flight test support.
Customer Background
Customer A is a global leader in electronic information equipment R&D, design, and manufacturing. They have played significant roles in various aerospace projects and are rapidly expanding into logistics, urban rail transit, wireless communication, civil radar, and software/integrated circuits, establishing a strong global market presence.
Pre-Test Requirements
Customer A required a high-performance high-power power supply system for flight test support of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. The specific needs were:
1. High-Power Supply
Before flight tests, the aircraft undergoes thorough system checks, including avionics and electrical systems.Stable power supply is crucial, requiring an independent 200kW capacity and expandable to 400kW.
2. High-Voltage Supply
To meet power and equipment needs, the customer uses 270V and 540V supply voltages.High-voltage supply can reduce current and losses, improving efficiency. The system must support 0 - 540V programmable output.
3. Redundant Power Supply
In flight tests, continuous power is essential. The system needs redundant power supply to keep working even if a module fails.
4. Safety
Safety in flight tests is vital. The power system must have OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP, and UVP. It should quickly cut off output if parameters are abnormal to prevent damage or accidents.
NGI High-Reliability High-Power Supply System
To meet the requirements, NGI developed a high-reliability high-power supply system that fully satisfies the customer's needs.
1. High Integration
The power supply adopts a modular design with an output voltage range of 0-800V. Each module has a power density of 3U/18kW. A single cabinet can achieve 216kW output, and two cabinets in parallel can reach 432kW.The latest N35500 series supports 3U/42kW, with ten units in parallel in one cabinet reaching 420kW.
2. High Redundancy
The system supports N+1 redundancy backup. When a module fails, it automatically exits, and the system reallocates power within its total capacity to ensure continuous power supply.
3. High Safety
The system supports multiple protective functions, including OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP, and UVP. It quickly cuts off output upon detecting abnormalities, ensuring safety.
