Installed Capacity Surges: Over 40× Growth Compared to the End of the 13th Five-Year Plan

Recently, the China Electricity Council and the National Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station Safety Monitoring Information Platform jointly released the 2025 Annual Statistical Report on Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Stations (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”).

The Report systematically presents the development status of the electrochemical energy storage power station industry in 2025, covering dimensions such as installed capacity, electricity generation and consumption, operational efficiency, system reliability, and industry benchmarking.

As of the end of 2025, a total of 1,998 power stations had been commissioned, with a cumulative installed capacity of 109.29 GW / 276.22 GWh—representing an increase of more than 40 times compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

Safety Remains Critical: BMS / PCS / Battery Testing Determines Power Station Reliability

With the rapid expansion of the electrochemical energy storage industry, safety and reliability concerns of energy storage power stations have drawn increasing attention.

In recent years, global energy storage safety incidents have occurred frequently, with more than 130 incidents reported cumulatively, including over 25 incidents in 2025 alone.

According to the Report, there were 1,192 unplanned outages of electrochemical energy storage power stations in 2025, with an average duration of 34.62 hours per event. More than 75% of these outages were caused by failures in key equipment (BMS, PCS, and batteries).

As the core units responsible for energy management, energy conversion, and energy storage, the testing and validation capabilities of these key components have become a critical factor in ensuring the safe and stable operation of power stations.
